For the past twenty-five years, I've been on a mission. With research showing that only 1 in 3 employees are engaged, I've traveled the world with a passion for helping organizations strengthen their culture by improving employee engagement.

My work experience has allowed me to see employee disengagement at many levels. From a front-line manager at a Fortune 50 company to the C-suite of a mid-sized company, I saw firsthand the challenge leaders and employees face when enhancing engagement. And as I've worked with hundreds of organizations over the years, I've continued to see that improving culture comes down to two things -- the mindset of employees and the skillset of leaders.

 

As a professional speaker, trainer, consultant, and author of three books on leadership, I have delivered timely and relevant keynote presentations in an entertaining and inspirational style to company outings, government agencies, and trade association conferences and conventions. My programs have been delivered with an energetic enthusiasm that inspires audiences of all sizes -- from 7 to 7,000. No audience is too small or too large.

 

My time on the platform has allowed me to earn the Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation, the speaking profession’s international measure of professional platform competence. Just over 10% of speakers worldwide who are a part of the Global Speakers Federation hold this designation.

 

Organizations nationwide have been using my ideas to enhance the mindset of employees and the skillset of leaders. As the president and CEO of Verbalocity, a leadership development company, I have delivered over 1,000 presentations throughout the United States, Canada, South America, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Bahamas. 

 

In addition to speaking about employee engagement, I have written three books on the topic. After publishing two books with mainstream publisher John Wiley & Sons, I released my newest book, Tell Me Somethin' Good! A Simple Guide to Overcoming Negativity in 2020.

When I'm not working, I do my best to serve my community. I have served on the Board of Directors of a premiere communications provider called GVTC for the past 15 years. My wife Heather and I reside just north of San Antonio in Bulverde, Texas -- the front door to the Texas Hill Country. Although we don't have children of our own, we founded a 501(c)3 dedicated to assisting abandoned, abused, and neglected children. It's called the First Chance Foundation. Helping build corporate culture is what we do. Helping disadvantaged children is who we are.

Oh, and on any given weekend throughout the year, you just may find us pursuing our hobby of competition BBQ! We have a team called Good Life! Barbeque.
